“Numbered” by local writer Nik Bland is the latest Radio Play offering from Insomniac Theater. Set in a futuristic world plagued with a deadly disease, a man and young girl find themselves washed up on a beach with no recollection of who they are or where they came from. With help from an old man, these two souls find out just how important they are in their suffering world. The audience of this epic journey can expect to encounter action, laughs, loss, and a look into the price of a human life.

Synopsis

For more than half a century the name Florence Foster Jenkins has been guaranteed to produce explosions of derisive laughter. Her annual recitals in the ballroom of the Ritz Carlton hotel, where she resided, brought her extraordinary fame. As news of her terrible singing spread, so did her celebrity. The climax of her career was a single concert at Carnegie Hall in 1944. Famously, it sold out in two hours. SOUVENIR, by turn hilarious and poignant, tells her story through the eyes of her accompanist, Cosme McMoon.

Synopsis

Sophie McAngel is accused of murdering her boyfriend, Thomas D. Thomas, shooting him in a lover’s quarrel. The play opens at the commencement of her trial presided over by the Judge Alonzo Foggybottom. Her attorney, Dewey Cheatum, battles wits with the prosecutor, Meriwether Stinkowicz in this witty courtroom comedy. The audience is the jury.
After the opening statement, the prosecution begins calling witnesses: Detective Howie Dunnit; a friend, Ally Bigh; the upstairs neighbor, Tom Peepers; and the coroner, Frank. N. Ernest. When the defense has an opportunity to present evidence, Dewey Cheatum calls Sophie to the stand to plead her case.

Was Thomas D. Thomas truly murdered or was it an accident? Was Sophie the mastermind of a nefarious plot or the victim of an innocent mistake? The audience will watch the performers, hear their testimony, review the evidence and then decide Sophie’s fate.

Night 1: Second Thought Improv works hard for your laughs and creates comedy from nothing but their minds and your suggestions!

Night 2: A team of writers will have written 8 plays based on the audience suggestions from Night 1. In less than 12 hours the Insomniacs will have to memorize, direct and produce these eight plays for your entertainment.

Synopsis:

PHAT Girls is a fast-paced account of the struggle many women experience dealing with weight and body image. The audience is transported from childhood to adulthood, witnessing the development and many facets of an eating disorder, in addition to how these women learn to survive in a body-conscious society. We see inner demons personified as we follow each woman on her journey to self-acceptance. PHAT Girls relates to these issues with humor, poignancy, and an honesty that everyone will be able to relate to.
