About

Insomniac Theatre Company is a registered Non-Profit Corporation dedicated to enhancing the awareness and appreciation of the fine art of dramatic performance.

A longtime dream of President and Artistic Director, Chad Taylor, The Insomniac Theatre Company started its run in North  Hollywood, California with “The Insomniac Series” in the summer of 2006. Now  relocated to Ocala, Florida, the company continues in its mission to delight  and entertain as well as trying to do its best to reach out to those in the community who have always wanted to be involved in a production, but never  had the motivation.

We operate with these  very simple rules:

* There MUST be a point: Whether it’s to make  people laugh or think, we have to put on performances that have a point to  make.

* There MUST be passion: Not that we’re going to  start producing plays in Aramaic, but everyone involved with the show from the  writing to sets to acting has to be passionate for what they want to do.

* There MUST be a quality Show: We will not put  on a show unless the audience will get their money’s worth. We understand  people won’t come back unless they feel fulfilled afterwards. We’re working on being the most filling theatre troupe out there. Now with a new, improved  taste!

* There MUST not be stress*: We’re not a big fan  of stress here, so for those involved with the show we try to make  things as unstressful as possible. For those watching the show, we try to give you a break from the hassles of everyday life… if only for a few hours, it’s always worth it.

Chad Taylor, President

An experienced playwright and knowledgeable in all (okay, most) aspects of theatre, Chad Taylor has lived on the stage since the age of 11. Writing his first play at 17 with his first production at 18,  Chad has written over 75 plays with numerous productions all over the US and  has acted in over 100 productions and directed/produced over 50.

Starting Insomniac Theatre as a joke during a production in Los Angeles in 2003, he started getting serious about putting together a legitimate and professional community oriented theatre company with the news of his hearing loss and eventual deafness. Chad has moved back to Ocala from California to pursue his dream of giving his hometown a new community theatre experience and to give back to the city that has given him his start.

Ryan James, Vice President

Born in Fort Lauderdale, Ryan moved to Ocala with his family as a child where he attended Forest High School and met Chad Taylor who encouraged him to get involved with theatre. He has been continuously involved in theatre on both the artistic and technical sides of production for over five years now. He has acted in several shows including True West, Men With Purses, Laughter on the 23rd Floor and William Shakespeare’s Two Gentlemen of Verona.

Adrian Knapp, Treasurer

Adrian was born in the Philippines to a Cuban mother and an Australian father. He has moved around as if it is going out of style.  He has lived in such places as: New York, Miami, and Spain to name a few.  However he seems to have found a home with the Insomniac Theatre Company, whether or not he tries to fight it. Adrian’s first exposure to theatre was at the age of 5 where he played a Lost Boy in Onteora Park’s rendition of Peter Pan. Although unwilling to admit, he has been a supporter of the theatre both on and off stage ever since.

Jonathan Seufert, Secretary

*The term “stress-free” does not apply to the aforementioned Chad Taylor.
